She fell silent for a moment before taking a deep breath and stepping closer. "I've realized my mistakes," she said softly. "I'm here to start over. And I'll begin by using every resource I have to help you find your wife."
She sounded convincing.
But I wasn't convinced.
"I don't have time for this. I'm going to look for my wife," I said as I climbed into my car and quickly started the engine.
"I'll be waiting for you," my mother said with a faint smile.
"Please go home. This isn't the right time," I replied before driving out of the compound.
